Hadith 25:283
Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Za'idah, from Abu Hayyan, who said: My father narrated to me, saying: A neighbor of Shurayh was present, and he had sons, so he divided his wealth among them, not failing to be just. Then he called Shurayh, and he came. He said: "O Abu Umayyah, I have divided my wealth among my children, and I have not failed [to be just], and I have made you a witness." Shurayh said: "Allah’s division is more just than your division. So return them to the division of Allah and His obligatory shares, and make me a witness [to that]. Otherwise, do not make me a witness; I will not bear witness to an injustice."
حدثنا حسين بن علي عن زائدة عن أبي حيان قال حدثني أبي قال حضر جار لشريح وله بنون فقسم ماله بينهم لا يألو أن يعدل ثم دعا شريح فجاء فقال أبا أمية إني قسمت مالي بين ولدي ولم آل وقد اشهدتك فقال شريح قسمة الله أعدل من قسمتك فارددهم إلى قسمة الله وفرائضه وأشهدني وإلا فلا تشهدني لا اشهد على جور
