Hadith 25:315
Humaid ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn al-Sa'ib, that a man bequeathed that two slaves be emancipated on his behalf for a [specific] price, and he named it. However, that price was not found to be [sufficient for] two slaves. So I asked 'Ata', and he said: "Buy one slave and emancipate him on his behalf."
حدثنا حميد بن عبد الرحمن عن سعيد بن السائب أن رجلا أوصى أن تعتق عنه رقبتان بثمن وسماه فلم يوجد ذلك الثمن رقبتان فسألت عطاء فقال اشتروا رقبة واحدة واعتقوها عنه
