Hadith 5:250
'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, that the governor of al-Ta'if wrote to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab: "The people of the honey have withheld from us what they used to give to those who were before us." He said: So he wrote to him: "If they give you what they used to give to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), then protect [the land] for them. Otherwise, do not protect it for them." He said: And 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb claimed that they used to give one qirbah (waterskin) for every ten qirbahs.
حدثنا عباد بن عوام عن يحيى بن سعيد عن عمرو بن شعيب أن أمير الطائف كتب إلى عمر بن الخطاب أن أهل العسل منعونا ما كانوا يعطون من كان قبلنا قال فكتب إليه أن اعطوك ما كانوا يعطون رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فاحم لهم وإلا فلا تحمها لهم قال وزعم عمرو بن شعيب أنهم كانوا يعطون من كل عشر قرب قربة
