Hadith 5:278

Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-Ajlah, from al-Sha'bi, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wrote to Yemen: "From what the sky has watered and what has been watered by natural springs (al-ghayl) of wheat, barley, dates, and raisins, one-tenth (al-'ushr) is to be taken. And from what has been watered by irrigation devices (al-sawani), half of one-tenth is to be taken."

حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن الأجلح عن الشعبي قال كتب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى اليمن يؤخذ مما سقت السماء وسقي بالغيل ( 1 ) من الحنطة والشعير والتمر والزبيب العشر وما سقي بالسواقي ( ( ( بالسواني ) ) ) نصف العشر
