Hadith 5:769
Hafs narrated to us, from Isma'il, from Abu Ishaq, who said: Masruq was on the chain (i.e., in charge of the public treasury or a specific collection point). Whoever passed by him and gave him something, he would accept it from him and say, "Do you have anything with you in which we have a right?" If he said, "Yes," [he would take it]; otherwise, he would say, "Go."
حدثنا حفص عن إسماعيل عن أبي إسحاق قال ان مسروق على السلسلة فكان من مر به فأعطاه شيئا قبل منه ويقول هل معك شيء لنا فيه حق فإن قال نعم وإلا قال اذهب
