Hadith 5:780
Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Saffah, from Matar, from Dawud ibn Kardus: That Umar ibn al-Khattab made a peace treaty with the Christians of Banu Taghlib on the condition that the *zakat* (tax) be doubled upon them twice. And on the condition that they do not baptize their children, and that they are not forced into a religion other than their own. Dawud said: And they have no covenant if they do baptize them.
حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن الشيباني عن السفاح عن مطر عن داود بن كردوس عن عمر بن الخطاب أنه صالح نصارى بني تغلب على أن تضعف عليهم الزكاة مرتين وعلى أن لا ينصروا صغيرا وعلى أن لا يكرهوا على دين غيرهم قال داود وليست لهم ذمة قد نصروا
