Hadith 5:888

Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, who said: I heard Abu Hamzah narrating from Hilal bin Husayn, who said: I stayed at the house of Abu Sa'id, and the gathering brought us together. He narrated to me that he woke up one day having tied a stone to his stomach due to hunger. He said: So I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and I caught part of his speech while he was saying: "Whoever seeks to be chaste, Allah will make him chaste; and whoever seeks to be self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient; and whoever asks of us, we will either give to him or console him; and for one to be self-sufficient from us is better for him than to ask of us." He said: So I returned, and I did not ask him for anything.
