Hadith 5:931
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ma’n ibn ‘Isa from Ibn Abi Dhi’b from al-Zuhri, he said: It has not reached us from any of the governors of this nation who were in Medina—Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, and ‘Uthman—that they used to not collect the tithes (al-‘ushur). Rather, they used to send [collectors] for them every year, in times of prosperity and in times of drought. That is because taking them is a Sunnah from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
حدثنا أبو ( ( ( م ) ) ) بكر قال معن بن عيسى عن بن أبي ذئب عن الزهري قال لم يبلغنا من أحد من ولاة هذه الأمة الذين كانوا بالمدينة أبو بكر وعمر وعثمان أنهم كانوا لا يثنون العشور لكن يبعثون عليها كل عام في الخصب والجدب لأن أخذها سنة عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
