Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 130:5

'Abd al-A'la ibn Hammad al-Narsi narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to us, Shu'bah informed us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Suhayb, he said: I heard Anas ibn Malik saying: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Let not the believer wish for death due to a harm that has befallen him. But if he must do so, then let him say: O Allah, grant me life as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me."
