Hadith 167:20
Ubayd ibn Junad narrated to us, Ata’ ibn Muslim narrated to us, from Ja’far ibn Burqan, from Ata’, from al-Fadl ibn Abbas, who said: I entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during his illness, and at his head was a red headband—or he said: a yellow one. He said, "O son of my uncle, take this headband and tie my head with it." So I tied his head with it. He said: Then he leaned on me until we entered the mosque. He said, "O people, I am only a human being like you, and it may be that the time of my departure from among you is near. So whoever I have harmed regarding his honor, his hair, his skin, or his wealth—this is the honor of Muhammad, his hair, his skin, and his wealth—let him stand up and seek retribution. And let none of you say that I fear enmity and hatred from Muhammad; for they are not of my nature, nor are they of my character." He said: Then he departed. When the next day came, I went to him, and he said, "O son of my uncle, I do not think that my standing yesterday sufficed for me. Take this headband and tie my head with it." He said: So I tied his head with it. He said: Then he leaned on me until we entered the mosque. He said the same as he had said the day before, then he added, "For the most beloved of you to me is the one who seeks retribution." A man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you recall the day a beggar came to you and asked you, and you said, 'Who has something to lend us?' and I lent you three dirhams?" He said: He replied, "O Fadl, give them to him." He said: So I gave them to him. He said: Then he said, "And whoever is overcome by something, let him ask us, and we shall pray for him." A man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a cowardly man who sleeps a lot." He prayed for him. Al-Fadl said: I saw him thereafter as the bravest of us and the one who slept the least. He said: Then he went to the house of Aisha and said to the women the same as he had said to the men. Then he said, "And whoever is overcome by something, let him ask us, and we shall pray for him." A woman gestured toward her tongue. He said: So he prayed for her. He said: It was as if she would say to me, "O Aisha, perfect your prayer."
