Hadith 151:69
Al-Hasan ibn Hammad al-Kufi narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad al-Muharibi narrated to us, from al-Ala’ ibn al-Musayyab, from Abdullah, from Amr ibn Murrah, from Salim al-Aftas, from Abu Ubaydah, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "A man among the Children of Israel, when he saw his brother committing a sin, would forbid him out of admonition. Then, when the next day came, what he saw of him did not prevent him from being his eating companion, his associate, and his drinking companion. When Allah saw that from them, He struck the hearts of some of them against others and cursed them upon the tongue of their prophet David and Jesus, son of Mary. That is because they disobeyed and were transgressing." Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, you shall certainly enjoin the good, and you shall certainly forbid the evil, and you shall certainly take the hand of the evildoer and constrain him to the truth, or else Allah will strike the hearts of some of you against others and will curse you just as He cursed them."
