Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 153:152

Al-Hasan ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Salim, from Ibn 'Umar, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Your remaining time compared to the nations that have passed is only like what is between the 'Asr prayer and the setting of the sun. The people of the Torah were given the Torah, and they worked until the middle of the day, then they became unable, so they were given a qirat for each. Then the Christians were given the Gospel, and they worked until the 'Asr prayer, then they became unable, so they were given a qirat for each. Then we were given the Quran, and we worked from the 'Asr prayer until the setting of the sun, so we were given two qirats for each. The Jews and the Christians said: 'O our Lord, we were more in deeds than them, yet You gave us a qirat for each.' He, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: 'Did I wrong you in any of your wages?' They said: 'No.' He said: 'Then it is My bounty; I bestow it upon whom I will.'"
