Wahb ibn Baqiyyah al-Wasiti narrated to us, Khalid narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from Salim, from Ibn Umar: That the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, consulted the Muslims regarding what would gather them for prayer. They said: "The horn," but he disliked it for the sake of the Jews. Then the bell was mentioned, and he disliked it for the sake of the Christians. That night, the call was shown to a man from the Ansar called Abdullah ibn Zayd, and to Umar ibn al-Khattab. The Ansari came knocking, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded Bilal, so he gave the call for it.
