Hadith 10:3
Abu Kurayb narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, al-Walid ibn Jami’ narrated to us, from Abu al-Tufayl, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) conquered Mecca, he sent Khalid ibn al-Walid to Nakhlah, where al-‘Uzza was. Khalid ibn al-Walid came to it, and it was upon the hills of the acacia trees. He cut down the acacia trees and demolished the house that was upon it. Then he came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and informed him. He said: "Return, for you have not done anything." So Khalid returned. When the custodians—who were its caretakers—saw him, they fled into the mountain, saying: "O ‘Uzza, strike him! O ‘Uzza, blind him! Otherwise, die in humiliation." He said: So Khalid came to it, and there was a naked woman with her hair disheveled, throwing dust upon her head. He struck her with his sword until he killed her. Then he returned to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and informed him. He said: "That was al-‘Uzza."
