Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 1:126

Ubayd Allah ibn Mu'adh al-'Anbari narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "O people, you recite this verse and place it in a context other than that which Allah intended: 'O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided' (Surah al-Ma'idah). Indeed, when people see an evil and do not change it, it is imminent that Allah will encompass them with a punishment."
