Hadith 1:17

Abu Kurayb narrated to us, Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, from Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash, from Asim, from Zirr, from Abdullah, who said: I was in the mosque praying, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered, and with him were Abu Bakr and Umar. I recited Surah an-Nisa, and when I finished, I sat down. I began by praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), then I supplicated for myself. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Ask, and you shall be given." Then he said: "Whoever wishes to recite the Quran fresh as it was revealed, let him recite it as Ibn Umm Abd recites it." He said: So I returned to my house, and Abu Bakr came to me and said: "Do you remember anything of what you were supplicating?" I said: "Yes, 'O Allah, I ask You for faith that does not turn back, and bliss that does not run out, and the companionship of our Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in the highest eternal Paradise.'" Then Umar came to Abdullah to give him glad tidings, and he found Abu Bakr coming out, having preceded him. He said: "If you have done so, you are indeed a forerunner in good."
