Hadith 1:25

25. Muhammad ibn Musa al-Tusi narrated to us, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, Abd al-Salam ibn Harb narrated to us, from Ata ibn al-Sa’ib, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said: When "Perish the hands of Abu Lahab" was revealed, the wife of Abu Lahab came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while Abu Bakr was with him. When Abu Bakr saw her, he said: "O Messenger of Allah, she is a foul-mouthed woman, and I fear she will harm you, so if you would stand up..." He said: "She will not see me." So she came and said: "O Abu Bakr, your companion has satirized me." He said: "He does not speak poetry." She said: "You are truthful to me," and she turned away. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, she did not see you?" He said: "An angel did not cease to shield me from her with his wings."
