Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 1:38

Abbad ibn Musa al-Khatali narrated to us, Ismail ibn Ja'far narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Amir, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza, from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, who said: I was with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when Ma'iz ibn Malik came to him and confessed to adultery. He turned him away. Then he returned a second time, and he turned him away. Then he returned a third time, and he turned him away. I said, "If he returns a fourth time, he will stone you." He returned a fourth time, so the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered him to be detained. Then he sent [someone] and asked about him. They said, "We know nothing but good of him." So he ordered him to be stoned.
