Surayj narrated to us, Marwan bin Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Ja'far bin al-Zubayr narrated to us, from al-Qasim, from Abu Umamah, from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, who said: I was with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the cave. He said: "O Allah, [grant] a piercing [wound] and a plague." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I know that you have asked for the deaths of your nation. So this piercing [wound], we have known it, but what is the plague?" He said: "A corruption like a boil. If a life remains for you, you will see it."
