Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Abu 'Amir 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr al-'Aqadi narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Aqil, from Mu'adh ibn Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' al-Ansari, from his father, who said: I heard Abu Bakr al-Siddiq upon the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying—and Abu Bakr wept when he mentioned the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), then he was relieved, then he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying in such heat as this, the first year: "Ask Allah for pardon, well-being, and certainty in the Hereafter and the first [life]."
