Ishaq ibn Abi Isra'il narrated to us, Anas ibn 'Iyad narrated to us, Yazid ibn 'Abd Allah ibn al-Had narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: A drinker [of alcohol] was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said: "Strike him." So among us were those who struck him with their garment, and among us were those who struck him with their sandal. Some of the people said: "May Allah disgrace you." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Do not say this; do not aid the devil against him."
