Salih ibn Malik narrated to us, Abu Ubaydah al-Naji narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sirin narrated to us, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by al-Baqi' and saw a woman sitting upon a grave, weeping. He said to her, "O servant of Allah, fear Allah and be patient." She said, "O servant of Allah, I am the bereaved, the grief-stricken." He said, "O servant of Allah, fear Allah and be patient." She said, "O servant of Allah, if you were afflicted as I am, you would excuse me." He said, "O servant of Allah, fear Allah and be patient." She said, "O servant of Allah, you have made me hear [enough], so turn away from me." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went on. A man from his companions followed him and stood by the woman and said to her, "What did the man who was leaving say to you?" She said, "He said to me such and such." He said, "Do you know who he is?" She said, "No." He said, "That was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." She jumped up quickly, saying, "I will be patient, I will be patient, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Patience is at the first shock. Patience is at the first shock."
