Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 155:300

'Amr ibn al-Dahhak narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me, from a cousin of Abu Hurayrah, from Abu Hurayrah, that Ma'iz ibn Malik came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery." He turned away from him until he had said it four times. When it was the fifth time, he said: "Have you committed adultery?" He said: "Yes." He said: "And do you know what adultery is?" He said: "Yes, I approached her in a forbidden manner, just as a man approaches his wife in a lawful manner." He said: "What do you intend by this statement?" He said: "I intend for you to purify me." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Did you insert that of yours into that of hers, just as the probe disappears into the kohl container and the stick into the vessel?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He then ordered him to be stoned, and he was stoned. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, heard two men, one of whom was saying to his companion: "Have you not seen this one whom Allah had covered, yet his soul did not leave him until he was stoned like a dog is stoned?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, traveled for a while, then passed by the carcass of a donkey. He said: "Where are so-and-so and so-and-so? Get down and eat from the carcass of this donkey." They said: "May Allah forgive you, O Messenger of Allah! Is this eaten?" He said: "What you have just consumed of your brother is more severe than eating this. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, he is now in the rivers of Paradise, plunging into them."
