Hadith 147:8
Ubayd Allah ibn Umar al-Qawariri narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Anas ibn Malik: That the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent Zayd, Ja'far, and Abdullah ibn Rawahah. He handed the banner to Zayd and said, "If they are all struck down..." Anas said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) announced their deaths to the people before the news arrived. He said: Zayd took the banner and was struck down, then Ja'far took it and was struck down, then Abdullah took it and was struck down. Then, one of the swords of Allah, Khalid ibn al-Walid, took the banner. He said: He began to speak to the people while his eyes were shedding tears.
