Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 9:20

Zuhayr narrated to us, Ja'far bin 'Awn narrated to us, Abu 'Umays narrated to us, from 'Awn bin Abi Juhayfah, from his father: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) established a bond of brotherhood between Salman and Abu al-Darda'. Salman came to visit Abu al-Darda' and saw Umm al-Darda' looking unkempt. He said, "What is the matter with you?" She replied, "Your brother has no need for the world." When Abu al-Darda' came, he welcomed Salman and brought food near to him. Salman said to him, "Eat." He replied, "I am fasting." Then he (Salman) said, "I adjure you by oath that you must eat; I will not eat until you eat." So he ate with him and spent the night with him. When it was night, Abu al-Darda' stood up, but Salman made him sit down. Then he said, "O Abu al-Darda', your Lord has a right over you, your family has a right over you, and your body has a right over you. Give every one who has a right his right. Fast and break your fast, pray and sleep, and go to your family." When it was morning, he said, "Stand now." So they stood and prayed, then they went out to the prayer. When the Prophet (ﷺ) had prayed, Abu al-Darda' stood up to him and informed him of what Salman had said to him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him the same as what Salman had said to him.
