Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 42:124

Al-Abbas narrated to us, Ismail bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Abu Maslamah narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa’id, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "As for the people of the Fire who are its people, they will neither die therein nor live. But there are people—or as he said—whom the Fire will afflict due to their sins—or he said: due to their errors." He said: "Thus Abu Nadrah said: So He will cause them to die until, when they become charcoal, permission will be granted for intercession. They will be brought in groups and planted upon the rivers of Paradise. Then it will be said to the people of Paradise: 'Pour upon them.' So they will grow just as a seed grows in the silt of a flood." A man from the people said: "It is as if the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was in the desert." Ismail said: "The seed is the grain that falls from a tree, and the open land (baraz) reaches it, so it grows; that is what the Arabs call it."
