Al-Hasan ibn ‘Umar ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, Ja‘far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from al-Mu‘alla ibn Ziyad, from al-‘Ala’ ibn Bashir—and he was, as far as I knew, brave during the encounter and a weeper during the remembrance—from Abu al-Siddiq, from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, who said: Abu Sa‘id said: "I was among a group of the weak ones of the Emigrants (Muhajirun). Some of them were covering themselves with others due to nakedness. A reciter of ours was reciting to us, and we were listening to the Book of Allah. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came and stood over us. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood over us, the reciter fell silent." He said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'What were you doing?' We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, a reciter was reciting and we were listening to the Book of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Praise be to Allah who has placed within my nation those whom I have been commanded to restrain myself with.'" He said: "Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat in our midst so that he could adjust himself among us. He then gestured with his hand: 'Form a circle.' So the circle turned, and their faces became exposed to him." He said: "I did not see the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recognize anyone among them except me. He said: 'Rejoice, O company of the destitute Emigrants, with the everlasting light on the Day of Resurrection. You will enter Paradise before the wealthy believers by half a day, and that is five hundred years.'"
