From the Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA)
Hadith 42:21
Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Ajlan, ‘Iyad informed us, from Abu Sa’id: That a man entered the mosque on the day of Friday while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was on the pulpit. He called him and ordered him to pray two rak'ahs. Then he entered the mosque a second time while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was on the pulpit. He called him and ordered him to pray two rak'ahs. Then he said, "Give charity," so they gave charity, and he gave him two garments from what they had given in charity. Then he said, "Give charity," so he threw one of his two garments. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, disliked what he did and said, "Look at this man; he entered the mosque in a shabby state, and I hoped that you would notice him and give charity to him or clothe him, but you did not do so. So I said, 'Give charity,' and they gave him two garments. Then I said, 'Give charity,' and he threw one of his two garments. Take your garment," and he rebuked him.
