Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 42:260

From the Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA)

Hadith 42:260

Zuhayr narrated to us, Abdullah bin Humran narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far informed us, from al-Aswad bin al-Ala, from Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Sa'id, who said: When the Haruriyyah emerged, we came to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and said: "Did you hear the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, mention the Haruriyyah?" He said: "No, but I heard him say: 'There will soon come a people whose prayer you will deem insignificant compared to their prayer, and whose deeds you will deem insignificant compared to their deeds. They will pass through Islam just as an arrow passes through the target.'" "So its owner takes it and looks at its arrowhead, but sees nothing. Then he looks at its binding, but sees nothing. Then he looks at its shaft, but sees nothing in it. Then he looks at its feathers to see if he sees anything in them or not."
