Zuhayr narrated to us, Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abu Salih, who said: While Abu Sa’id al-Khudri was praying on a Friday towards something that shielded him from the people, a young man from the tribe of Mu’ayt came and wanted to pass in front of him. Abu Sa’id pushed him in his chest. He did not find a way [to pass] except in front of Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, so he returned, and he [Abu Sa’id] pushed him in his chest harder than the first push. He [the young man] stood up and spoke ill of Abu Sa’id. Abu Sa’id entered upon Marwan and said, "What is the matter between you and your nephew? He came complaining about you." Abu Sa’id al-Khudri said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'If one of you is praying and someone wants to pass in front of him, let him push him in his chest. If he refuses, let him fight him, for he is only a devil.'"
