Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 42:280

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Rawh ibn ‘Ubadah narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Ghiyath narrated to us, Abu Nadra narrated to us, from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "People will pass over the bridge of Hell, and upon it will be thorns, hooks, and grapples that will snatch people to the right and to the left. On its two sides will be angels saying, 'O Allah, grant safety, grant safety.' Among the people are those who pass like lightning, those who pass like the wind, those who pass like a horse, those who run with effort, those who walk, those who crawl, and those who drag themselves. As for the people of the Fire who are its inhabitants, they will neither die nor live. As for some people, they will be seized for their sins and errors, and they will be burned until they become charcoal. Then, permission will be granted for intercession, and they will be taken in groups and cast into one of the rivers of Paradise, where they will sprout as a seed sprouts in the silt of a flood." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Have you not seen the *sabgha* (a plant), a tree that grows in the debris?" "The last of those to be brought out of the Fire will be a man on its edge. He will say, 'O Lord, turn my face away from it.' He will say, 'Is it your covenant and your pledge that you will not ask Me for anything else?' He will say, 'Yes.' Then he will see three trees upon the Path (al-Sirat). He will say, 'O Lord, move me to this tree so I may eat of its fruit and be in its shade.' He will say, 'Is it your covenant and your pledge that you will not ask Me for anything else?' He will say, 'Yes.' Then he will see another that is better than it, and he will say, 'O Lord, move me to this one so I may eat of its fruit and be in its shade.' He will say, 'Is it your covenant and your pledge that you will not ask Me for anything else?' He will say, 'Yes.' Then he will see another, and he will say, 'O Lord, move me to this one so I may eat of its fruit and drink in its shade.' Then he will see the darkness of the people and hear their speech, and he will say, 'O Lord, admit me into Paradise.'" Abu Nadra said: Abu Sa’id and a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) differed. One of them said, "He will enter Paradise and be given the world and the like of it," and the other said, "He will enter Paradise and be given the world and ten times the like of it."
