From the Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA)

من مسند أبي سعيد الخدري

Hadith 42:373

Zuhayr narrated to us, Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Ismah, who said: I heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri saying: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) took the banner and shook it, then said: "Who will take it by its right?" Al-Zubayr came and said: "I will." He said: "Step aside." Then another man stood up and said: "I will." He said: "Step aside." Then another stood up and said: "I will." He said: "Step aside." Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "By the One who honored the face of Muhammad, I will surely give it to a man who does not flee with it. Take it, O 'Ali." He grasped it, then set out until Allah granted the conquest of Fadak and Khaybar, and he brought its dates and its dried meat.
