Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 42:379
From the Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA)
Hadith 42:379
Zuhayr narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Salih, who said: Ibn Shihab said: 'Ata' ibn Yazid al-Jund'i informed me that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri informed him that some people from the Ansar asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and no one asked him for anything except that he gave it to them, until what he had was exhausted. When he had spent everything he had, he said: "Whatever good I have, I will not withhold it from you. Whoever seeks to be chaste, Allah will make him chaste; whoever seeks to be self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient; and whoever seeks to be patient, Allah will give him patience. And you have not been given a gift better or more vast than patience."
