Hadith 42:60
Ubayd Allah ibn Mu'adh al-'Anbari narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Qatadah, who heard Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, from the Prophet (peace be upon him): That a man killed ninety-nine people, then he came asking if there was any repentance for him. He came to a monk and asked him, and he said, "There is no repentance for you." So he killed the monk. Then he continued to ask, and he went out from a village to a village in which there were righteous people. He said: When he was on some part of the road, death overtook him, so he inclined with his chest [toward the righteous village], and then he died. The angels of mercy and the angels of punishment gathered, and he was closer to the righteous village by a span, so he was made among its people.
