Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 42:64

Muhammad ibn Isma'il ibn Abi Samina narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Sa'id, who said: The wife of Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said: "Safwan beats me when I recite [the Quran], and he forbids me from fasting, and he does not pray until the sun rises." Safwan stood up and said: "As for her statement that I beat her, it is because she recites two surahs [in her prayer]. As for her statement that I forbid her from fasting, I am a young man [and cannot endure her absence]. As for her statement that I do not pray until the sun rises, we are a household for whom that is known; we do not wake up until the sun rises." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to her: "Do not fast except with his permission, and do not recite his two surahs." And he said: "As for you, O Safwan, then when you wake up, pray."
