Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 42:96
From the Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA)
Hadith 42:96
Al-Jarrah ibn Makhlad narrated to us, Al-Yaman ibn Nasr, the flour merchant, narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Sa'd al-Muzani narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir narrated to me, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf narrated to me, he said: I heard Abu Sa'id say: I saw in what a sleeper sees, as if I were under a tree, and as if the tree were reciting [Surah] Sad. When it reached the prostration, it prostrated. It said in its prostration: "O Allah, forgive me for it, O Allah, remove a burden from me by it, and create for me by it gratitude, and accept it from me as You accepted the prostration from Your servant David." So I went early to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him. He said: "Did you prostrate, O Abu Sa'id?" I said: "No." He said: "Then you are more deserving of prostration than the tree." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited Surah Sad, and when he reached the prostration, he said in his prostration what the tree had said in its prostration.
