Hadith 128:5
Zuhayr narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out while he was angry, and he addressed the people and said: "Do not ask me about anything today except that I will inform you of it," and we were of the opinion that Gabriel was with him. A man stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we were recently in the Age of Ignorance, so who is my father?" He said: "Your father is Hudhafah," referring to the father he was attributed to. He asked him about things, then Umar ibn al-Khattab stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we were recently in the Age of Ignorance, so do not expose our faults to us. Will you expose us because of our secrets? Pardon us, may Allah pardon you. We are pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Islam as a religion, and with Muhammad as a Messenger." He said: Then his anger subsided. He looked and said: "I have not seen the like of today in terms of good and evil. Paradise and Hell were presented to me before this wall, and I have not seen more of what is good and what is evil than on this day."
