Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 8:4

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from Layth, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit, from Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani, who said: Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah and Mu'adh ibn Jabal were whispering to each other about a matter. I said to them, "Have you not remembered the instruction of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) regarding me?" He said, and he had instructed them regarding him. They said, "We did not intend to whisper about anything without you; we were only mentioning a hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) narrated to us." Then they began to discuss it. They said, "Indeed, this matter began as prophethood and mercy, then it will be a caliphate and mercy, then it will be a biting monarchy, then it will be tyranny, arrogance, and corruption in the nation. They will deem permissible silk, intoxicants, private parts, and corruption in the nation. They will be granted victory for that and will be provided for forever, until they meet Allah."
