Hadith 149:121
Ibrahim narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from Urwah, from Aisha, that Sa’d ibn Mu’adh was struck in his median arm vein (al-akhal), so the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, set up a tent for him in the mosque so that he could visit him from nearby. Sa’d said: "O Allah, You know that the people most beloved to me to fight are a people who belied Your Prophet, drove him out, and did such and such. And I think that the war has been laid down between us and them. O Allah, if You have left any war between us and them, then keep me alive for them. But if You have laid down the war between us and them, then cause this wound to burst and make my death in it." While he was there one night, his wound burst from his jugular notch (labbah), and next to him were the people of a tent. The blood flowed until it entered the tent, so they called out to them: "O people of the tent, what is this that is coming to us from your direction?" They looked, and behold, Sa’d ibn Mu’adh’s wound had burst from his jugular notch, and his blood had a roaring and a rumbling sound. He said: So he died from it.
