Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 149:148

Abu al-Rabi’ narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from his father, from ‘Aishah, who said: We went out, coinciding with the crescent of Dhu al-Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes to enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj, let him enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj, and whoever wishes to enter into the state of Ihram for ‘Umrah, let him enter into the state of Ihram for ‘Umrah." I was among those who entered into the state of Ihram for ‘Umrah. She mentioned that when she was at Sarif, she began her menses. She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered upon me while I was weeping. He said: "What is the matter?" I said: "I wish I had not gone out this year." He said: "Undo your hair, abandon your ‘Umrah, comb your hair, and do what the Muslims do in their Hajj." She obeyed Allah and His Messenger. When it was the night of departure, he ordered ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr to take her out to al-Tan’im. He took her out to al-Tan’im, and she entered into the state of Ihram for ‘Umrah from there.
