Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 149:22

'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, 'Abdah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, from 'Aishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade *al-wisal* (continuous fasting without breaking it at night). They said: "O Messenger of Allah, you yourself practice *al-wisal*." He said: "It is only a mercy with which Allah has favored you. I am not like you; I remain with my Lord, and He feeds me and gives me to drink."
