Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 89:2

Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far narrated to us, from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from Abu al-Huwayrith, that he heard al-Hakam ibn Mina that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Umar: "Gather for me those who are here from Quraysh." So he gathered them, then he (Umar) said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall you go out to them, or shall they enter to you?" He said: "Rather, I will go out to them." So he went out and said: "O assembly of Quraysh, is there anyone among you who is not of you?" They said: "No, except for the sons of our sisters." He said: "The son of a people's sister is one of them." Then he said: "O assembly of Quraysh, know that the closest of people to the Prophet are the God-fearing. So take heed, lest people come with deeds on the Day of Resurrection, and you come with the world, carrying it, so I turn my face away from you." Then he recited: "Indeed, the closest of people to Abraham are those who followed him and this Prophet and those who believe. And Allah is the ally of the believers." (Al Imran: 68)
