Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 134:5

Uqbah ibn Mukram narrated to us, Yunus ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Sulayman al-A'mash narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered upon a man to visit him, and he had become like a fledgling bird due to the severity of his illness. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Did you not use to supplicate? Did you not use to ask?" He said, "Yes, I used to say: 'O Allah, whatever You are going to punish me with in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world.'" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "You would not be able to bear that. Why did you not say: 'Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire'?" So he said it, and he was cured.
