Hadith 159:145
A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am ruined." He said, "Woe to you, and what is that?" He said, "I had intercourse with my wife while I was fasting." He said, "Free a slave." He said, "I do not find [one]." He said, "Fast two consecutive months." He said, "I am not able to." He said, "Feed sixty poor people." He said, "I do not find [anything]." Then a basket containing dates was brought to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said, "Take this and give it in charity." He said, "Should I give it to someone other than my own family, O Messenger of Allah? By Allah, there is no household between the two lava fields of Medina more in need of it than mine." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, laughed until his teeth appeared. He said, "Take it and feed your family with it, and seek forgiveness from your Lord."
