Hadith 93:1
Ibrahim ibn al-Hajjaj narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, 'Asim ibn Kulayb narrated to us, from al-Faltan ibn 'Asim, who said: We were with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and revelation descended upon him. When it descended upon him, his gaze would remain fixed with his eyes open, and his hearing and his heart would be emptied for what came to him from Allah. He said: We used to recognize that in him. He said to the scribe: "Write: 'The believers who sit [at home]—except those who have a disability—and those who strive in the way of Allah are not equal.'" [An-Nisa: 95]. The blind man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is our fault?" Then Allah revealed [the rest of the verse]. We said to the blind man: "It is being revealed to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He feared that something might be revealed regarding his matter, so he remained standing, saying: "I seek refuge in the anger of the Messenger of Allah." He said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to the scribe: "Write: 'Except those who have a disability.'"
