Hadith 132:3
Abu Bakr ibn al-Nadr narrated to us, Hashim ibn al-Qasim Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Ubayd Allah al-Ashja‘i narrated to us, from Sufyan ibn Sa‘id al-Thawri, from Ubayd al-Maktab, from Fudayl, from al-Sha‘bi, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and he laughed. He said: "Do you know why I laughed?" We said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "From the servant’s addressing his Lord. He says: 'O Lord, did You not grant me protection from injustice?' He (the servant) says: 'The Almighty and Majestic says: Yes.' He says: 'Then I will not allow any witness against myself except from myself.' He says: 'He (Allah) says: It is sufficient that your own self is a witness against you, and the noble recording angels are witnesses.'" He said: "Then his mouth is sealed, and it is said to his limbs: 'Speak.' He said: 'So they speak of his deeds.' Then he said: 'He is allowed to speak, and he says: "Away with you and be cast aside! It was on your behalf that I was contending."'"
