'Abd al-A'la ibn Hammad al-Narsi narrated to us, Bishr ibn Mansur al-Sulaymi narrated to us, from al-Khalil ibn Murrah, from al-Furat ibn Salman, who said: 'Ali said: "Will one of you not stand and pray four rak'ahs before the 'Asr [prayer], and say in them what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: 'Your light is perfected, so You have guided, therefore to You is all praise. Your forbearance is great, so You have pardoned, therefore to You is all praise. You have extended Your hand, so You have given, therefore to You is all praise. Our Lord, Your Face is the most noble of faces, Your status is the greatest of statuses, and Your gift is the best and most wholesome of gifts. You are obeyed, our Lord, so You are grateful; and You are disobeyed, our Lord, so You forgive. You answer the distressed, remove harm, heal the sick, forgive the sin, and accept repentance. No one can recompense Your favors, and the speech of a speaker cannot reach Your praise.'"
