Hadith 3:284
Abu Musa narrated to us, Abu Ahmad narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah, from Zayd ibn Ali, from his father, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi', from Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood at Arafah and said: "This is Arafah, and this is the standing place, and all of Arafah is a standing place." Then he departed when the sun had set, and he let Usamah ride behind him. He began to travel at his ease, while the people were pushing to the right and the left, and he did not turn toward them, saying: "O people, upon you is tranquility." Then he came to Jam' (Muzdalifah) and prayed the two prayers together with them. When morning came, he came to Quzah and stood upon it, and said: "This is Quzah, and this is the standing place, and all of Jam' is a standing place." Then he departed. When he reached the valley of Muhassir, he struck his she-camel, and it trotted until he passed the valley. He stopped and let al-Fadl ride behind him. Then he came to the Jamrah and threw pebbles at it. Then he came to the place of sacrifice and said: "This is the place of sacrifice, and all of Mina is a place of sacrifice." A young woman from Khath'am asked him for a legal ruling, saying: "My father is a very old man who has become senile, and the obligation of Allah regarding Hajj has reached him. Will it suffice if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Perform Hajj on behalf of your father." He turned the neck of al-Fadl [away]. Al-Abbas said to him: "Why did you turn the neck of your cousin?" He said: "I saw a young man and a young woman, and I did not feel secure from Satan regarding them." A man came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I performed the Tawaf of Ifadah before I shaved my head." He said: "Shave or shorten, and there is no harm." Another man came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I slaughtered before I threw the pebbles." He said: "Throw, and there is no harm." Then he came to the House (the Ka'bah) and performed Tawaf around it. Then he came to Zamzam and said: "O children of Abd al-Muttalib, your task of providing water; were it not that the people would overcome you, I would have drawn water with it."
