Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 3:30

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Salim, from al-Sha'bi, from Ali: That a married adulterer was brought to him. He said: So he flogged him on Thursday. He said: Then he stoned him on Friday. He said: It was said to him, "You have combined two punishments upon him." He said: So he replied, "I flogged him according to the Book of Allah, and I stoned him according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."
