Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 3:32

Zuhayr narrated to us, Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Nu'aym ibn Hakim narrated to us, from Abu Maryam, who said: Ali narrated to us, saying: I set out with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) at night until we came to the Kaaba. He said to me, "Sit," so I sat. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) climbed onto my shoulders, then I stood up with him. When he saw my weakness beneath him, he said, "Sit," so I sat. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) descended and sat for me. He said, "Climb onto my shoulders," so I climbed onto them. Then he stood up with me, until it seemed to me that if I had wished, I could have reached the horizon of the sky. I climbed onto the House and came to the idol of Quraysh, which was a statue of a man made of brass or copper. I kept working at it, to the right and to the left, and in front of it and behind it, until I gained control over it. He said, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was saying, "Heh, heh" (hurry, hurry), while I was working at it. Then he said to me, "Throw it," so I threw it, and it shattered just as glass vessels shatter. Then I descended, and we set off, hurrying until we were concealed by the houses, for fear that anyone would find out about us. It was never raised upon it after that.
